We went with another couple to St. Martin and chartered a Beneteau 50' from the Moorings. October 9-15.

Where are the Trades???

The weather was miserable...HOT (92HI, 82LOW). no wind. We only sailed one day, the last day from Grand Case to Oyster Pond, only 11miles in 15+kts. BUT the boat was fast under power, 8.75 at 1,900RPM. So we were able to cover lots of ground.

We ate wonderful French cuisine every day... we swam, snorkled, read a few books, skinny dipped all day...a great VACATION as opposed to a SAILING TRIP.

  • Sat: Pick up boat and leave to St. Barts, arrive in Anse du Colombier
  • Sun: Go to Guastavia, shop, lunch and back to Anse du Colombier
  • Mon: Gustavia in afternoon and dinner
  • Tue: Drop off crew in Oyster Pond (they couldn't stand the heat); go back to Goat Island St. Barts
  • Wed: Go to Road Bay, Anguilla
  • Thu: Go to Grand Case, St. Martin
  • Sat: Go to Oyster Pond SAILING FINALLY.

We also spent a few lovely days at the resort (Capt Oliver's)...hung out by the pool, some shopping, more fine dining etc.
